Focus Scripture: “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” – 2 Peter 3: 18
Admonition
I bring you greetings from the Throne of Grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Despite all the advancement in technology which has put information, by implication, knowledge, in everyone’s hands, the church seems to be reverting to what it used to be when only the priest had access to the Holy Bible and whatever he told the congregation was therein was what they believed. The only difference however is the lavish and unrestricted availability of the truth today, but with painful underutilization.
As rightly advised by our Focus Scripture today, we are supposed to grow in the knowledge of God and His Christ. However, most of us are growing in church doctrines, constitutions and what our pastors said as against what God says. The truth is that whatever your pastor says today will become “he said” tomorrow, for thousands of years ago, God has always been “saying.” Meaning that while your pastors’ words’ validity may not exceed the first few minutes of them saying it, God’s Words remain valid forever (Psalm 119: 89, 160; Matthew 24: 35; 1 Peter 1: 25).
The reason many of us languish in pitiable spiritual ignorance with very visible dire physical implications today is that we don’t align ourselves to seek the knowledge of God. The reason there are so many failures in the church today is that we don’t seek the knowledge of God. In Psalm 119: 99, the Psalmist says, “I have more understanding . . . : for thy testimonies are my meditation.” The reason we have showers of blessings instead of the promised outpouring of His blessings is that we lack His knowledge (Hosea 4: 6; Malachi 2: 9). The reason many people backslide without looking back again is their lack of knowledge of God. The reason many people’s faith fails and many doubt God’s unfailing abilities is because they lack the knowledge of God. The reason many people spend hours in prayers with little or no results is the lack of the knowledge of God. We can go on and on why the knowledge of God and His Christ should be the only thing a serious Christian must desire.
As we close this morning, I have always said, “it is how much you know about God that will determine how far you will be able to go with God. So, seeking God’s knowledge is sine-qua-non in this race. The Psalmist had this knowledge. That was why he said in Psalm 42: 1 that “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”The good knowledge of God David had was one of the many reasons God declared him the man after His heart. The greatest gift anyone could give you, both in life and in this Christian race is the Knowledge of God. My study through the Bible tells me that everyone who had the impeccable knowledge of God FINISHED STRONG in Him and they ended well. I pray that will also be our testimonies in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him!
Jesus loves you!
