Topic: THINGS THAT FIGHT AGAINST YOUR FAITH
Focus Scripture: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
Admonition
I bring you greetings from the Throne of Grace.
One of the basic truths of our salvation that has been turned upside down by the Pentecostals misleading their congregants is that: we are called to be free; there must or should be no bounds. Many Christians today therefore live free and will not mind doing anything, forgetting that they are ambassadors of Christ Jesus, here on earth. Indeed, we are called to be free, but free from what? Sin! (Romans 6: 18, 8: 2; 1 Corinthians 7: 22; Galatians 4: 31). The book of Galatians 5: 1 says “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Today’s admonition is about the yoke of bondage. May God minister to our souls in Jesus’ name. Amen.
The Holy Spirit of God will, today, be exposing those things that fight against our faith in order to bring us under the yoke of bondage from which we have been freed by the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
The first enemy of our faith is unbelief for it is written; “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, . . . .” (Hebrews 11: 6). To this end, I usually classify most congregations into two: the Christians (by birth, marriage or any other means) and the believers, those who believe in and rest on the promises of God. The reason for this is not far-fetched; most people’s faith in the church today starts and ends with their founders, pastors, G.Os, etc. We shall come back to all that someday. We suffer unbelief when we refuse to act upon the Word of God because we didn’t believe what He said could or would be possible. But to people who have ever listened to me, I have always said man has no business thinking whether what God said is possible or not; yours is to believe it and take a step of faith by acting on whatever He says. Unbelief makes us repulsive to God because by it, we call God a liar and render Him powerless. So, it is the number one enemy of our faith.
Do you have a prayer request? drop it here.
The other enemy of our faith that fights against our faith seriously and we need to really watch is wrong company. Wrong company talks about who or those we have dealings with. A wrong company could be a friend, partner/spouse, colleagues, etc. The book of 1 Corinthians 15: 33 warn thus: “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” Very often, many people who hitherto had good standings before God become spiritual derelicts just because of the kind of companies they keep. Jeoshaphat was a good man before God, but he started derailing the moment he gave his daughter in marriage to Ahab’s son. He later joined himself to Ahab and followed him to war. It was God’s grace that saved him. But lastly, God destroyed the works of his hands (2 Chronicles 20: 37) when he joined himself again to an evil man of Ahab’s descent, Ahaziah (See 2 Chronicles 18 – 20). A wrong company is like a virus to our spiritual development and faith because of their attachment and they often come with lots of unGodly sentiments.

The last enemy of our faith that we shall touch this morning is the flesh. Painfully, most of us, Christians, often forget that we are no longer the same person we used to be the moment we give our lives to Christ (2 Corinthians 5: 17). The truth is that at that very moment, our body is no longer us. At that moment we have become a new being, freed from the desires of the flesh. But actually, the only way to actualize this in our lives is by heeding the book of Colossians 3: 2 which say “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” The real problem is that many of us, as said in one of our series a fortnight ago, are double-faced in that we want to live for God and at the same time, live for the world. We want to have the best of both experiences. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that!
So, as we close this morning, I wish to drum it into our ears that the greatest enemies of our faith is not wishes and wizards, or the wicked forces in the darkness of the world as we may have been told and led to pray many times in the past, but these three things that we have discussed this morning, especially the last one. If a man fails to conquer himself, let him not think of conquering witches and wizards. And let us know this: overcoming witches and wizards is not of man, but of God. Our FINISHING STRONGLY in God starts with the awareness of these three things. May we all FINISH STRONG in Jesus’ name. Amen.
N. B. Please, pray that God will help your unbelief, separate you from evil companies and help you to overcome yourself in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Till tomorrow when we shall meet again on this beautiful journey of FINISHING STRONG together, please, keep keeping on in Him!
Jesus loves you!
Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
